This past weekend I had the great opportunity of mentoring ambitious individuals at Startup Weekend- a global grassroots movement of empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the ABC fundamentals of founding and launching successful ventures.
Their task was to think of an idea, validate it in the market, design a logo, create a business model around it & develop a functional prototype in 54 hours! Their energy was incredible!
The very cool thing was that the majority of coders were actually fresh graduates from the newly established @joincoded viva academy! Puting their education into practical use with great results!
Congratulations to Mukankom, a platform many small business owners will find helpful, and after some tweaking we came up with a refined business model! Hopefully we will see them in the market soon.
Care and Compare, the second winning team provide mothers with an algorithm on how to choose nurseries for their children
Rozter for football is the third winner, one that will make life easier for football fanatics, and possibly the next buzz in diwaniyas!
BUT- The project which personally captured my interest was Jaffar with Wiguapp! Along with his team, this young very smart insightful entrepreneur saw the market opportunity from his perspective, & decided to develop a platform that helps students his age (10yr olds) decided on which career path to go into when they grow up!
All in all it was a very positive weekend filled with passion, enthusiasm and lots of coffee! Thank you to the organizational committee who did an absolutely tremendous job, all the judges and mentors who willingly provided their expertise and insight, and the Viva Coded Academy for hosting it.
